Sorry about the long blog haitus! It isn’t for lack of photos to share, I’ve just been focused on healing and catching up on the work I missed when I was recovering from my accident. The good news is…I’m feeling great today! I still have a few aches, but the pains have subsided greatly. Thank God! :-D Now, on to the photos!

I first met Maggie and Joe at a wedding I photographed in 2005. They remembered me when they were looking for someone to photograph their family. We did the session at the Noerenburg Gardens in Orono, MN. Maggie found the location online. I have never heard of, or been to the gardens and was absolutely enthralled by its beauty and very inspired. I shot until the light was GONE because they are such a fun family, and the location was loaded with beauty.

As the session went on and we got to know one another, Joe and I realized we had gone to the same high school. I knew his sister and he knew mine. Small world!

After the session, they took me out for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery (this is highly recommended ;-). I love the Tschidas!

First, I’ll introduce you to their awesome kids!

Canon 85mm, f2.8, 1/320, ISO 400

First up is Adam - lots of fun and has a great smile!

Canon 85mm, f2.8, 1/320, ISO 400

Next up is Alex, she’s funny and has really beautiful, almost mysterious eyes!
I love how her shirt matched the flowers in the background.

Canon 85mm, f2.8, 1/640, ISO 400

Last, but not least, is Madeline. She is super sweet and has the greatest hair! I knew right away I wanted to do some back lit shots of her to show it off.

Canon 50mm, f5, 1/160, ISO 400

The three siblings get along great!

Canon 50mm, f4.5, 1/160, ISO 400

I think they were pretty comfortable being their silly selves in front of the camera!

Canon 17-40mm at 29mm, f7.1, 1/125, ISO 640

Noerenburg Gardens is a public park on Lake Minnetonka where an estate used to be. This area is where the house once stood, and the pillars are similar of those that were on the front porch of the house. I thought It was a neat location for a family photo!

Canon 17-40mm at 29mm, f7.1, 1/125, ISO 640

This is what happens when you tell the parents of teenagers to kiss in front of them!

Canon 85mm, f5.6, 1/250, ISO 640

A more traditional family portrait. I like it!

Canon 85mm, f5.6, 1/250, ISO 640

Joe and Maggie - aren’t they sweet together?

Canon 50mm, f6.3, 1/160, ISO 500

There were so many beautiful locations at this park, I could have shot for hours (okay, so I did, but more hours…). I’ll definitely use it again (but differently, I like every session to be unique.)

Canon 50mm, f45, 1/320, ISO 1250

This shot was so fun to do!

Canon 85mm, f4.5, 1/200, ISO 1000

Canon 85mm, f4.5, 1/1250, ISO 1000

You know me, I’m a sucker for kissie shots!

Canon 85mm, f4.5, 1/2500, ISO 1000

My favorite shot from the session!

Okay, I’ve never been pregnant, but I think it’s beautiful! And with someone like KC Woodward in front of my lens, it gets extra beautiful. She has such an amazing inner beauty and this baby is such a blessing to her and Ben. They went through a lot to get pregnant, including a special surgery. I’m so happy for them and can’t wait to meet their little girl in just under 6 weeks!

Ben’s old piano made a nice place to sit and cuddle too!

Last Wednesday night, I had a riding accident. The short story is that my horse bucked me off and then fell on top of me. Miraculously, I’m okay, except for a couple of sprains, bumps, bruises and soreness. The long story can be found on my personal blog.

Here’s a photo of the only visible evidence of my accident:

The saddle horn hit the outside of my arm when she fell on top of me, and all the blood is pooling underneath my arm. It changes color each day. Neat-o! :-D

Thankfully, I had no wedding or photo shoots schedule last weekend and the sessions I had for this week was able to be rescheduled. I am hoping to be physically able to take photos by next week, but I don’t know right now. The focus of my pain today is where my ribs separated from my sternum on the right side. It hurts to take a deep breath or talk at the end of my breath. I am thankful that I also have desk work to do with the design side of my business!

I am hoping soon to be able to blog those maternity photos I promised last week.
