My session with Jenna felt a little like cheating. Before me stood a young woman, confident, beautiful both inside and out, on a perfect autumn evening with soft filtered light coming through the clouds. Our time together was full of laughter, smiles, and ease. What more could I ask for? :)

This handsome/smart/funny/quirky/awesome kid is my sister’s son – AND MY NEPHEW! He is headed to the University of Minnesota next year on a Navy ROTC scholarship. He has also competed at the local and national levels of the American Legion Oratorical Contest, and is an Eagle Scout. We’re all so proud of him!

When considering a location, the State Fairgrounds came to mine. My sister’s family goes almost every year and I have wanted to do a session there for quite awhile. We chose a date AFTER the actual fair (who wants to fight those crowds!). I loved all the fun texture and unique backgrounds we had to work with. It was one of those perfect afternoons that will live vividly in my memories forever. :)

They say that as a photographer, you should photograph what you know…what you love. Well, I KNOW horse and I especially know horse loving teenagers, because I was once one of them.

Sarah and Ace go together like peanut butter and jam, peas and carrots, chips and dip – you get the idea – and I LOVED photographing their easygoing relationship. Sarah is a beautiful, natural, artistic young woman and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!
