I thought I would lighten things up around here and share some fun photos I took of some of my Kansas City friends, and a few dogs…

Austin – Joanna’s really awesome dog, my dog Toby’s bud.

The brown dog was visiting Austin for the week, but belongs to Thomas Hall (not pictured).

Alyssa is my friend Joanna’s roommate, and now my friend too. I met her when I stayed with Joanna last summer. We spent many a late night around the dining room table, eating, laughing and computing on our laptops. She’s sweet and fun!

    Roomies!

This was the first time I had met Dallas. He is a great guy!

I call Joanna my muse. I really LOVE to photograph her. :)

I also say she’s like a sister to me. I feel completely at home with Joanna.

I barely remember December – it went by in a blur of travel, sickness, holidayness, sadness over the loss of a friend, and general craziness. I feel like even though we’re a week into the new year, I still haven’t quite landed.

I am planning to get caught up on the rest of the 2009 photos next week, but for now, I want to introduce my photo blog readers to Toby. Most of you have probably seen his cute face on Facebook or Twitter, but he really should be introduced here.

Toby joined our family on Halloween. He was the last pup from a litter of 8 and was 5 months old by the time we got him. They must have saved the best for last – he’s adorable, well-behaved, sweet, cuddly and keeps us laughing.

Here’s how he looked the day we brought him home. It’s funny, he looks like a stranger here because now when he looks at me, it’s with so much more familiarity and affection. :)

Until he learned to be a good boy, he had to stay in a pen while I worked. As I type this, he is laying at my feet…or rather…on my feet. Good boy. My feet like to be warm. :)

A phrase we use around here a lot is “you are SO cute!” Can you see why?
    Then the snow fell…

And then it fell some more…

It’s so fun to play in the snow!

    Snow what?
    IMG_2514.JPG
    Snow plow…
    IMG_2517.JPG
    Snow angel.

    Snowdog. Not abominable.

    I love this little guy!
He’s super furry right now, but is going in Thursday to get all trimmed up. I plan to take some before and after pics. Should be a hoot!
Stay tuned next week for updates to the blog – horses, weddings, and dogs – oh my!

My dog Monty is featured in a monthly newsletter for Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer!

So how did this happen? Well, I am on Twitter (a micro-blogging site where you answer the question “what are you doing” all day long. It’s strangely addicting!) and I had written about watching the Dog Whisperer (seriously, one of my favorite shows!) and then got “followed” by @cesarmillan . One day they wrote “Tweet your favorite holiday photo of your dog, and we could select it for Photo of the Month! Points for creativity!” so I submitted this photo of Monty that I took for our 2006 Christmas card.

They chose my photo and their comments were: “Thanks so much again for allowing us permission to use the photo. We saw a long line of dog-in-a-Santa-hat shots, but the added charm of the ‘beard’ (and the professional image quality) really made this one stand out. It was just too adorable to pass up!” Normally, I charge for the use of my images, but being such a big fan of the show and Cesar Millan (my dog is much more balanced now because of them!), I didn’t mind letting them use it.

So my beloved dog Monty gets his 15 seconds of fame. I gave him a whole graham cracker to celebrate!
