January26th

I thought I would lighten things up around here and share some fun photos I took of some of my Kansas City friends, and a few dogs…

Austin – Joanna’s really awesome dog, my dog Toby’s bud.

The brown dog was visiting Austin for the week, but belongs to Thomas Hall (not pictured).

Alyssa is my friend Joanna’s roommate, and now my friend too. I met her when I stayed with Joanna last summer. We spent many a late night around the dining room table, eating, laughing and computing on our laptops. She’s sweet and fun!

This was the first time I had met Dallas. He is a great guy!

I call Joanna my muse. I really LOVE to photograph her. :)

I also say she’s like a sister to me. I feel completely at home with Joanna.

Thanks Delilah – now I just need to get out and shoot some horses in the snow! :)

These are fabulous as usual and just so joyful! I have been photographing Frankie (my greyhound) in the snow quite a bit. I find overexposing by a stop works well. Can I ask you how you get such lovely exposure on the people’s faces especially?

Hi Leslie – I always expose for the face, even if it means the background is blown out a bit. I also use “digital fill flash” from Kevin Kubota to lighten their faces just a hair. I hope that helps!

    Beautiful as always, Shelley.

Do you know what breed of dog Austin is? You still have me so wanting to get a dog.(-:

Holly – he is a mix. They think maybe a lab/pointer mix of some sort. Oh, you should get a dog. I was just looking at Toby and thinking about how wonderful it is to have him in my life. :)

Oh, I LOVE them! The pictures are amazing, and the people in them are amazing, and the photographer is amazing (in more ways than simply her incredible photography!)

Looks like a blast. Shooting in snow is such a reciepe for awesome — and you took full advantage. I really dig the contrast the red hat brings — and winterkc59.jpg is so money! Keep up the great work.

(Yes, we shoud get together, I’m wicked busy until the end of March though… :( )
