I’m tempted to start giving my posts titles like they used for “Friends” episodes that start with “The One With…” or “The One Where…” If I was going to do that, I’d want to name this one “The One with the Tornado”. However, I’m sure that’s now how Matt and Sarah want their wedding day remembered. So I’ll call it “The One That Was Blessed”, as they say that rain is a blessing on weddings. I’ll tell you about the tornado part later.
Matt and Sarah got married at Minnehaha Falls and had their reception at a park near their house. It was such a fun, sweet day, a perfect reflection of the couple.

In addition to off and on rain showers, it was a little warm too…

I love how everyone is laughing at the couple with the oversized umbrella! Don’t laugh too hard, they stayed pretty dry because of it!

The falls were beautiful because of all the rain the week before!

This was seriously one of the best wedding meals I’ve ever had. Awesome ribs and corn on the cob!

The sun peeked out for a few minutes and I grabbed them for some photos…

Oh yeah, the dessert was great too. :)

So after their first dance ended, the tornado sirens began to blare. The music stopped and most of the guests just headed for their cars and left. I still had some time left to cover the event, so my second shooter Heather and I followed the couple, their families, and bridal party to their townhouse on the other side of the park. The sky was very green, there was a tornado touching down west of where we were, and we were in the projected path of the worst of the storm. Thankfully the tornado did not hold together and we were safe. A little rattled, but safe.
I took some photos while we were waiting out the storm…

Matt and Sarah had a great attitude about it all, and the day was a sweet success – at the end of it all, THEY WERE MARRIED – and will have a great story to tell their children.
