So I’ve been sick for the past week. My lofty goals of blogging almost every day to catch up were not even close to being met! But now that I am on the mend, look for almost daily posts from me (excluding weekends). I would love to be one of those photographers that posts photos within a few weeks of taking them. I’m almost embarrassed at how far behind I am at blogging my photos!
Today’s post features photos from the Long Lake Hounds Hunter Trials. It is like a horse jumping show, but it’s in an open field and is to show how fit a horse and rider are to do well on Fox Hunts. I don’t normally photograph shows, but this one sounded like fun!
The weather was amazing – mid 80s on October 11th in MN is true Indian Summer! And don’t get me started on the stunning fall colors. I was just beside myself with excitement when I drove up to the field and saw the blazing orange and red trees!
This was my first time really photographing horses over jumps, and I will tell you, it isn’t easy to get the timing right. As the day went on, I got better and by the end was nailing it (mostly).
IAll of these shots were taken with the Canon 70-200 2.8. Most were at an aperture of 5.6, but some were at 7.1 or 8. am not sharing individual settings because I shot in Aperture Priority for most of them due to changing light.
