This is my final post related to the tail cutting day at Reflection Farm!

Jean Liestman’s daughter Jaimie recently moved to Kansas, but was home for the tail cutting. They wanted some photos taken with an older horse Jaime used to show, and a few with their stallion “RF RAMBO”.

The light here was produced by sunlight reflecting off of a white house.

I think this guy is stunning!

Here he was noticing the mares in a nearby pasture.

At this point, Jaime said “I hope the lead doesn’t break”.

She must have been a little prophetic.

So what does a stallion do when he gets loose? He heads for the mares!

    Flirt!

He was safely caught and put back in his stall. What a fun day we ALL had!

While I was in New Mexico, I did a portrait session for my friends Jim and Linda. Linda was the one who let me know about the workshop. We’ve been online friends for over a year, and finally met in person. I so enjoyed getting to know them both and listening to all the crazy stories about their life in the military (where they met), Linda’s endurance riding, and life in New Mexico (where virtually everyone carries a gun!)

After seeing the images, this is what Linda had to say:

    Words cannot express our appreciation…

Jim and I have never had professional photos taken like this and to have you as our photographer was such a thrill. As you know, I have been such a fan of your portrait work for a very long time. After 26 years of marriage, I am blessed to have a husband who is also my best friend and I think you captured that feeling so well!

These photos are wonderful, and they are extra special because you were the one who took them for us! I’m speechless and our daughter Amy cried when she saw them. That’s how it’s done!

    May God bless you richly,
    Jim and Linda Sherrill

Doesn’t she have pretty eyes? I also really loved the light in New Mexico! :)

They are very much in love.

We found an old train car to shoot in. I am certain the seating isn’t authentic to the original car, but it made for an interesting location to work in!

I love the sign in the window.

Just before the tail cutting ceremony, I took some quick portraits of several of the Pittman’s other miniature horses. The light was a little difficult to deal with, as it was midday, but these little horses will capture your heart in just about any light.

When I get my own farm someday (hopefully soon), I want to have a miniature horse. :)

This darling girl got to play “dress up” and stand for a couple of cute portraits with this sweet mare.
