I can tell quite a lot about a couple by the way they interact with friends and family on their wedding day. I really clicked with and enjoyed Megan and Adam from the first time we met, but I really came to love them when I saw how they were loved and how they loved others on the day they were married. It was a beautiful day, but more than that, a beautiful experience to be surrounded by so much warmth and affection.
Megan and Adam are horse people, which is why they chose The Enchanted Barn in Hillsdale, WI for their wedding, and might have had some influence in them choosing me to be their photographer. ;) I have another wedding to share soon at this same venue, with more horse people. It’s been a great summer of weddings so far!
Here’s what Megan had to say about her first experience of the photos, “Oh my goodness Shelley – we love them. I don’t even know how to express the emotions I have looking at these. I was so happy that day but as a few weeks past I was getting a little sad that I couldn’t remember every detail. Well, these pictures brought it all back and then some. WE ARE SO HAPPY!” YES! That’s exactly why I do what I do the way I do it. Capture the true beauty and real moments of the day so couples can remember how their wedding day felt.
More details and story mixed in with the photos…
Always your pea… I love this.
One of my favorite details of the day was Megan’s blush wedding gown.
A moment with dad before walking down the aisle. (Photo by Stace!)
Megan and Adam didn’t see each other before the ceremony, and this was Adam’s face the moment she appeared at the end of the aisle. Priceless!
I love her smile!
Megan’s grandfather was a professional wedding photographer and getting to know him was one of the sweetest parts of this wedding for me. More about that later, but I loved getting this sneaky photo of him during the ceremony.
When a groom looks at his bride like this, I melt…
Mom making good use of that hanky. Ah!
For their unity ceremony, they enclosed notes to each other with a bottle of wine, to be opened at a future date!
Then they sealed the box with wax.
Stace got a photo of me that I like! ;)
I’m not sure what happened here during the bustling of the dress, but it created lots of laughter!
We have a lot of fun during “formals” (which aren’t too formal)!
This next sequence had us all laughing! My job is to make sure the hilarity is documented, so I just keep shooting…
They put in so many hours of work to create a beautiful experience for their guests.
Megan’s grandfather, the former wedding photographer I mentioned earlier, asked for a few minutes to photograph the couple and I was more than happy to oblige. It was a treat to watch him pose and photograph his beloved granddaughter and her new husband. This photo brings tears to my eyes. When I shared it on Facebook shortly after the wedding, a friend of the family made this comment: “This is so wonderful. Lee has been photographing and posing Megan for her entire life. The look of love and tenderness you captured here encompasses their loving relationship to a ‘T’! It made me cry.” And then that made me cry. Getting to witness and document moments like this is such a privilege!
S’mores bar. LOVE!
A perfect ending to a fun-filled, heart-felt day!
